GITA Releases
Broadband Assessment Study
Develops Methodology to Improve Broadband Service, Take Advantage of
Federal Dollars GITA
recently released a Broadband Assessment GIS Study to identify the data
sources necessary to provide a detailed and multi-layered map showing
the availability of advanced communications capacities in the State of
Arizona. The study also examines collaborative opportunities,
architectural frameworks, and costs to sustain a blended GIS Broadband
Assessment Project.
The Study defines a
methodology to map the State’s broadband infrastructure capacity and
availability. This will help government agencies and private companies
to prioritize and plan for infrastructure projects to improve access to
broadband internet.
“The development of
broadband internet service is of the upmost importance to the State,”
said Interim State CIO W. Max Ivey. “Hopefully this study will put
Arizona into a better position to draw down federal funds to develop
this critical infrastructure.”
