New Web Portal Contract to Advance E-Government

The State of Arizona recently entered into a new contract for development and management of www.AZ.gov, the State’s award winning web portal. The new contract will allow the State to accelerate the delivery of e-services to Arizona citizens and businesses. Managed by GITA, the portal offers a full suite of services including hosting, application and website development, and customer support. More than 75 agencies utilize services provided by the State portal such as Google searching, occupational and professional license renewals and payment processing.

The State hired NIC, Inc (www.nicusa.com) as the outsourced vendor to manage the portal. NIC, Inc has a strong record for providing e-government solutions nationwide and currently manages 21 State Web portals. The contract between NIC, Inc and the State is available through the State Procurement Office.

“This new contract places the State in a great position to advance Governor Napolitano’s agenda for transforming government through information technology,” said State CIO Chris Cummiskey. “In the coming months, we expect to develop new applications through the Portal to increase government transparency and provide new and improved services to Arizona citizens and businesses.”
