Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Service Oriented Architecture Background
Over the past ten years, GITA has promulgated
technology policies and standards that agencies must follow with the goal of
reducing silos and encouraging interoperable information technology. GITA
has, to a large extent, reached the goal of leading and directing agencies
toward a common technology framework, and Service Oriented Architecture is
the next logical step to further improve agency efficiencies by streamlining
state services and business processes, thus reducing silos and redundant
resources.
Arizona’s Approach to SOA
With the Enterprise Architecture foundation in
place, GITA, in cooperation with Executive Branch Agencies, will analyze
existing state services to identify enterprise services common to the state.
Such services will be implemented through design methods and practices of
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
The goal of this effort is to provide a
results-oriented government where business process and technology
redundancies can be reduced and in some cases eliminated to increase
efficiencies and business value in Arizona government. With cooperative
leadership by state agencies, GITA foresees a significant progress towards
an effective streamlined government.
As part of the SOA initiative, GITA is working
with various state agencies on key
pilot projects
