E-Rate Program Office
Mission
The
GITA E-Rate
Program’s mission is to provide assistance
to Arizona
Schools
and Libraries in their efforts
to successfully apply for E-Rate.
What
is E-Rate?
The Schools
and
Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund, commonly known as
"E-Rate," provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries in
the United
States
to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access. In other
words E-rate
Program supports
connectivity - the conduit or pipeline for communications
It is
administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC)
under the
direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Funding is
requested under four categories of service:
- Telecommunications services
- Internet access
- Internal connections
- Basic
maintenance of internal connections
Because
E-Rate rules and
requirements can change, it is very
helpful to use the USAC website http://www.usac.org/sl
to stay current.
