GITA Background

The Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) was established in 1997 as a statewide coordinator of information technology (IT) planning, oversight and consulting for the executive branch of State government. GITA also serves as IT consultants for the Legislature and Courts as requested.

GITA Program Goals

1. Ensure high quality planning, monitoring, and oversight of State IT

2. Develop and maintain effective, statewide IT policies and standards

3. Successfully manage and advance projects as assigned by the Governor and/or the Legislature

4. Seek innovate approaches to strategic and IT initiatives

Current Projects

2-1-1: GITA is partnering with several agencies to create an online repository of health, human service, and homeland security information. This system is the first step towards a statewide 2-1-1 information and referral system.

Online Licensing: GITA is partnering with the Department of Real Estate to create an online licensing renewal system. Future agencies for this application include Insurance, Registrar of Contractors, Health Services, and several others.

Social Service Integration: GITA is working with AHCCCS and DES to integrate their data systems allowing for increased efficiency and effectiveness.

Telecommunications Coordination: GITA is the statewide coordinator of telecommunication policies for the state.
